NASHVILLE PIANO RESCUE ™ is a different type of music store, we basically save good decent used pianos from early demise whether it be from storage or from people who will never play them. We have over 90 years of experience , an enormous logistical networking base and go out to find these pianos in other areas, mainly in the north, midwest  and western states, we try to avoid instruments from the high humidity southern states.
 
The idea is to get affordable pianos into the hands of area musicians without breaking the bank.

We are currently NOT picking up  Upright Pianos  Over 45 inches tall  due to space restrictions, when we make some room we will remove the restriction notice.

RE-STRINGING  SERVICE :  We can now offer complete re-stringing on any piano, upright or grand  for 1280.00 plus tax .  This is not a mis-print.  Price includes all new bass strings ( not universals)  Steel strings, felt punchings new tuning pins.  This cost does not include a new pinblock but does include transportation to shop and back. In and out time is 4 weeks.

All custom work including various lines of stage shells will be available as of 5-10-2013 from the Nashville East location. we are gearing up and settling into the new paint shop and hope to be producing some really trendy custom finishes by  mid May  including a new sage green that we plan on putting on some pianos.

Nashville East Store will be open  5-10-2013  and will start its summer hours schedule from that date on.  Fri- Sat  11 am to 7 pm  During the week by chance or appointment

PIANO TUNING:   We offer no nonsense professional piano tuning. The tuner will come out and tune your piano simple as that.  There wont be any up-selling going on, ( telling you you need 100's of dollars of work to do the job).  He may make a recommendation if needed but only if it really is.  

PRICING :   Low Overhead is Key to providing Value in Todays Market.  We like to say that our Delivery is on a  Courtesy Basis and not just a Free Service.  Mainly due to the fact that it is not easy, we don't want to see inexperienced people moving our pianos.  Prices are essentially based on our investment, where it came from, if it was shipped from overseas, Canada, off a mountain top etc.  What was directly involved, labor, repair and logistics wise to getting it here.  We do not base prices on Speculation of what everyone else is doing. 

We Offer a 100% trade up guarantee with no time limit,  if you buy a piano from us we will give you whatever you paid for it towards  an upgrade to a more expensive Upright or Grand.

WARRANTY:  We place a full Warranty on everything that comes through our door. Nothing is more irritating today than to pay a lot of money for something only to have it fail. I go through this constantly with machine tool parts that are seemingly all made overseas.  If we work on the Pianos that come through here I will warranty it, regardless of age. We want to make sure that you aren't buying a mystery and you will have peace of mind.  This is a real warranty, we don't put some humidity related spin on it. If it breaks I will personally come to your house and fix the issue at no cost to you.

PIANO PICKUPS:  Please use the contact us page to schedule pickups, pianos do not have to be in working order but we dont pick them up from dirt floors or left outside in the rain. **** We do not sell or pickup water damaged or flood damaged pianos, If you have heard this from someone please contact us so we can investigate the source****, We dont pick up mirror top pianos.. Other than that it can be anywhere else, broken, abandoned, apart etc. There is no charge for a pickup and if there are stairs involved let us know in advance. We pick  up in the following cities:  Nashville TN and surrounding areas, Cincinatti OH, Louisville KY. We can also pickup from any commercial location in the country with advanced notice.  If you want to ship something to us we can give you a piano only carrier to use. We also network with moving companies all over the country.

 
DELIVERY:  For now all deliveries are courtesy as in no extra charge, how long this lasts will depend on the skyrocketing fuel costs and is ground floor only ( 2 - 5 ) entry steps, we can go around the back of the house on masonite if there is less steps there.  Any second floor deliveries will require you to hire additional labor to get it up there. We will deliver it to the location and they can use our equipment if they need it.  DELIVERY AREA is stated as a  50 mile radius from our shop, for a nominal charge we do however make longer range deliveries which include:  Mcminnville, Bowling Green KY, Cookeville, Clarksville etc.  It really just depends on what is involved at our end, but we are happy to give you a price quote.

DELIVERY RADIUS :  50 miles from  Murfreesboro 37130 or Scottsville KY .  A 1.50 charge per mile is added on any deliveries over 100 miles round trip.  We do not sell pianos sight unseen, you must have someone come in and view the item in person or have a representative come in and look at it.  We will ship pianos out of the area but it has to be to a commercial location, a piano dealer or moving company etc.  We do not use open equipment to transport pianos, Our truck and business is 100% compliant with commerce regulations with the proper USDOT operating authority, insurance etc. 

TRADES:  We do accept various types of trades towards one of our pianos or refurbishment work and that could be obviously your old piano, doesn't have to be working, other instruments, amps, cars, Antique toys or collectibles, gas pumps, Advertising signs, antique furniture ( no O.S eg sofas or stuffed chairs) farm tractors, ATVs, Motorcycles, Go Karts, equipment/machinery, tools, parts, if it's old and interesting I will take a look at it even if these items are broken we may be able to repair it or use them for parts while still saving you money and getting you what you want.


PARTS & QUESTIONS:  If you have any questions about  your piano, need a part  or refinishing, need how to advice email me and I will tell you the best course of action to take. We've been at this a very long time so we may have the simple solution. We are also updating the parts tab regularly with all kinds of out of production piano parts, related items for interior designers etc.

CHARITIES & SMALL PRODUCTIONS:
Contact us if you are in a bind and need a Free piano loaner for an event, it really makes no sense to us for a charity or small production to have to open their wallets and rent a piano which takes money away from their purpose. Pianos will be loaned out with free pickup and delivery.   We prefer that your music department person comes and looks at what's available in advance as stock changes without notice. Due to scams recently we want your request written on your charities letter head. We will also donate pianos and time/instruction to any charity/good cause looking to refurbish a piano for resale: EG  Boy scout projects etc.       We deliver any time of day or night 7 days a week with at least 1 day advanced notice. 

SHIPPING /LOGISTICS:  We do make trips to the following cities on a regular basis, Washington DC Maryland, Baltimore Maryland, St Louis MO, Louisville KY,  Cincinatti OH .  We are using a specialized piano carrier currently with great rates if you want a piano moved to the our area or want us to ship one to you.  We will deliver within 50 miles for free and will exceed that radius.MUSIC AWARENESS :   Since March 2009 we have given away over 100 pianos, our time and delivery  to promote music awareness to small productions, dinner theaters, charities, the poor, retirement homes etc...

Our Equipment

One of our newest additions is this Chevy High Top van which has an interior lift, we've been using this van for out of state pick ups, and delivery of smaller grand pianos under 7 feet.

Our Isuzu NPR Truck can get into tight places for easy pickups and deliveries. We have Masonite for areas without sidewalks, block & Tackle/Winches for stairs. Average in and out time for picking up an upright is less than 10 minutes

Making a quick delivery of an 800 lb piano thru the back of the house, there were 10 steps at the front door. This was a better option.

Rail gate is 3 feet deep and 7 feet wide, this will soon be replaced with a 6 ft tall gate.

1895 AB Chase

Someone professionally painted this piano which we think has burl Walnut veneer this green antiqued enamel color. Original Ivory keys in mint condition and super nice non tubby bass sound.This is before stripping. A couple more days and this piano would have went to the dump. A guy just happened to see our truck on his lunch break. Many of these pianos end up at the dump every day.

Starting to remove all the parts, everything had paint stuck to it including the hinges and screws.

I think I was seeing green by this point in my sleep

Side view after Sanding and Sanding sealer, the sealer closes the pores of the wood so you can put the clear coats on. pictured with no stain. The columns and legs are solid walnut as are all of the hardwood parts on this piano. This is rare. most of the time you have to stain match the legs as they are made of Sycamore or Poplar

Front view that I added to show off the pristine soundboard. This piano is massive in size, now the dolly does make it look taller but off the dolly it's still 65 inches tall. Gutted and stripped out it still weighs over 600 lbs. Walnut is heavy!

Front view with lower door in place. This piano has some type of key assist mechanism with 100 wood dowels that help the keys return to the correct height. Never seen that before and they like to get sucked into the vacuum. Always check your project after each task to make sure all the parts are there.. Lower door is on as well as the Burled strip above the rub rail.

Keys and Action going in. This had a couple broken hammers that were fixed before this step.

AB Chase Transfer which I put on after the 1st two coats of Lacquer and then over coated it with the last few coats.

Upper door installed. There are 5 parts to this assembly.

This is it with the key cover, lid and all the hinges installed. Total time invested was 40 hours each for the two of us. An average hobbyist could complete this project in a month or so.

If you are looking for hard to find parts or have a broken part in a piano action contact us with a picture. We will probably have a replacement and if not we can make some parts from scratch in the shop. We will be offering a line of custom made piano repair tools soon as well.  Some of the repair parts we have are as follows: Single pedals, many parts houses only sell sets of 3 while we will sell just the one you need, Screws and Fasteners:  Most new screws today are low quality made in China and will probably break putting them in. Casters, rods, springs, wood parts, hinges etc.

We have 75 +/- year old high Quality German steel or American made screws/bolts  in sizes that are no longer available, Watch the store page as we will be listing packages of these screws there soon.

Used Sound Boards :  We have used sound boards for you guitar repair / rebuilder guys.  Great for making new guitar lids/backs  all vintage and seasoned 50 year old +
